Filem mengenai sejarah Nabi Musa dan Nabi Isa ciptaan orang Barat

Salam.

The Ten Commandments (1956)

Aku rasa mungkin itulah Judas.
The Passion of The Christ (2004)

Shrek vs Pirates

PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN: AT THE WORLD'S END
I haven't watch the previous movies of the Pirates. So, I don't wanna make any comparison with the previous ones. In the introduction part, the scene where it is so called Singapore, its kinda reminiscing my history subject. Its not about the pirate called Sao Feng, its the East India English Company. I wonder, is this for real? I mean do the English go that far to fight the pirate?

After thinking about that, I wonder if our local moviemakers can produce such historical yet can instill patriotic spirits to the local viewers. Overall, I enjoy the graphics and the nonsense proposal during the battle.

SHREK THE THIRD
Next is Shrek the Third. I love watching Shrek since I've been watching from the first sequel of the movie. It has all the elements from fairy tale, romance, action and humour. I agreed with my sister about the others characters. There are so many characters and since I'm not very good in remembering names, I've got confused with most of the characters. Which one's Snow White, Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty and there's too many anonymous villains. By the way, both movies is a very light and enjoyable movie for the family.

P/S - Up next, Fantastic 4, Die Hard 4 and Trans4mers. Its all about number 4?

Spiderman 3

I watched Spiderman 3 at MBO Galaxy Ampang on 1st May, the first show was on 1215pm. I don't have to queue because I've bought the ticket 3 days earlier. As usual, I prefer to watch alone because in that way, I can focus on the movie.

I think Spiderman 3 is the best among the previous movies. Its a good blend and mix of the reality and science fiction stuff. Its quite impossible to see human DNA can be altered easily such as the Sandman. I like the part where Parker become such an aggressive person after being dominated by the DARK side of him.

However the villain characters weren't developed properly. I've always wanted to see how they will get married, in church or on hilltop (as Parker always imagined). The visual effects is great from the flying sand and slithering dark element.

I wonder how does it feel like being evil. For those who knows me well, I'm quite an annoying person. Sometimes, its good to be bad right? At the blogthings.com quiz, I'm 46% evil. "You are evil, but you haven't yet mastered the dark side. Fear not though - you are on your way to world domination."

I've been tagged by Azuwachan, about my least favourite colour. Based on the rainbow colours and my personal collection, I don't wear yellow a lot. I'm not interested to be in yellow because it sounds like coward. (not relevant?)

Jangan Pandang Belakang

Its another Malaysian Made horror flick. I watched it at MBO Galaxy Ampang with my sisters, Adila and Anis the midnight show. As if we want to get the scary and frightening feeling while watching it. Its my first time sitting separately eventhough we come together. Otherwise we will have to sit very close to the screen and complaint about neck pain.

SYNOPSIS taken from Wikipedia
Darma (Pierre Andre) is traumatised by the mysterious death of his fiancee, Rose (Intan Ladyana). Not satisfied with her unexplained death, Darma decides to investigate the case with the help of Rose's twin sister, Seri, (also played by Intan Ladyana). As they probe into the death, a series of strange occurrences start to unravel, leaving Darma in a disturbed state of mind that affects his life and career. When he is advised to take a week's break from work, he returns to his hometown to rest. Unknown to him, he is only getting closer to solving his fiancee's death and the truth behind the strange happenings.

The reason I watch this movie is that my sister asked me to accompany her. Second, I wanna know the reason why this movie got more than RM400k on the first day screening. Even Cicak-Man only got around RM350k.

The story is kinda cliche but I love the cinematography technique. The director Ahmad Idham understand and apply the same technique as other international films. Some of them are the scene transition and depth of field. However, some of the depth of field technique in the beginning is quite poor. Its out of focus. The audio mixing is good as it really helps in giving the suspense mood to the audience.

The new actress, Intan Ladyana is cute but she can improve her acting skills later. The ghost is very ugly. Why Malay ghost always appear to be very ugly as if it was hit by terrible accident. Yet the vampiress in PHSM is beautiful isn't it?

All in all, you should watch this movie if you wanna get along with your buddies. I'm giving this movie a B and 3.5 stars.

300

I watch 300 from downloaded DVD rip video. So the feeling is not the same as watching the movie in cinema in the first week of release.
So, I don't wanna talk much about this movie. I just surprise to see the transformation of Gerard Butler. He was the 'Phantom of the Opera' few years ago and now he has become the great Leonidas.

The plot was based on Frank Miller's graphic novel about the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C. That's why they have to reproduce the setting with CGI. Even the blood is CGI. My sister told me about the blood. Suppose that when the blood splatter, it should have the trace on the Spartans, on the face, body, shield and even ground. But none of them was visible. You only can see the blood splatter but it'll dissolve to the thin air. Not realistic enough for the blood effect.

The war scene is not very brilliant enough. Its because of the Spartans only fight with few of the Persian, due to the geographic constraint. Compare with the Lord Of The Rings, I love to see the battle in the open space. Yeah.. Dilios was Faramir in LOTR, the same actor.

Anyway, its a good movie. I'd give B for 300.

Long Saturday

Its been awhile since I'm enjoying myself for the whole Saturday. For the last few weeks, I've been spending them for my projects and so on. I'm happy that its over and let's enjoy life to the max!

SMTKL ALUMNI GATHERING
I went to my former school, SM Teknik KL in Cheras with Shafiqa Ameera, my ex-classmate for this first time gathering for all ex-students. The most senior comes from the year 1964 and the youngest will be 2006 SPM candidates. I don't like on how the organise this event because, there's no official or formal invitation letter. I've got to know it from forwarded SMS and through buletins in Friendster.

I came to show my commitment of my lovely school but the session in the hall is indeed BORING. I only enjoy singing the school song, I thought I've forgot the tune. 1 more, there's no lunch provided. This shows that SMTKL don't have enough fund from the alumni and that's why they are going to restructure the committee members that day. I left the meeting early because I've got other stuff to do. Its quite disappointing to see only 4 of my classmate turn up. Thanks Zuraihan and Amanina for coming.

MALAYSIA TECHNOLOGY EXPO 2007 - PWTC
I went to PWTC to see the exhibition because I thought it will give me some exposure and knowledge for my future design. My lecturer told me that an Industrial Designer should went to many exhibitions to gain knowledge about design as well as current technology that may be featured in our design.

Most of the exhibitors come from higher learning institutions such as UiTM, UTM, USM, UPM and goverment agencies such as MARDI. Its sad to see how IIUM is lacking of research. Its very clear through this exhibition. What's the purpose of displaying a model of aeroplane without any useful information? I'm quite impressed with UNIMAS product design and I guess, its our duty and responsible of Industrial Design student to help the university in doing research as well as contribute them for such exhibition.

I enjoy playing 'brain activity' ball game provided by Pusat Sains Negara. You have to be very calm and ease your mind. From the alpha and tetha graph that I can see, the calm you are, the farther the ball will move. I compete with Pikot and I won 2 times in a row. Its true that through Zikir, you'll become more calm. I did it!

MR. BEAN'S HOLIDAY - GALAXY AMPANG
After that, we went together to Galaxy Ampang to watch any movies. We are not that choosy and we just want to have good time together. So we watch the comedy 'Mr. Bean's Holiday'. Its a comedy and I really enjoy it by laughing out loud. Yeah. Laughter is the best medicine after all.

Blood Diamond

I've watched this movie on Monday because my lecturer was absent. I watch at TGV KLCC with Amir, Aslam and Reduan. Here's the synopsis of the movie, taken from ImdB.com
Set against the backdrop of civil war and chaos in 1990's Sierra Leone, Blood Diamond is the story of Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio) - a South African mercenary - and Solomon Vandy (Djimon Hounsou) - a Mende fisherman. Both men are African, but their histories as different as any can be, until their fates become joined in a common quest to recover a rare pink diamond that can transform their lives. While in prison for smuggling, Archer learns that Solomon - who was taken from his family and forced to work in the diamond fields - has found and hidden the extraordinary rough stone. With the help of Maddy Bowen (Jennifer Connelly), an American journalist whose idealism is tempered by a deepening connection with Archer, the two men embark on a trek through rebel territory, a journey that could save Solomon's family and give Archer the second chance he thought he would never have.

Storyline
Since it was based on a true story, I admit that this movie has a great storyline. It also touches the value of family in such a conflict way. However, this movie takes more than 2.5 hours and there's few ups and downs that'll make me a bit boring. The ending is surprising because I thought that strong-will Archer (Leonardo) will get on the plane to sell the diamond. But its good since he's giving Solo a new life. He's now a millionaire!

This movie is 18PL as in the ticket but guess what, before the movie started to roll, the screen displayed the U or Umum classification. Few minutes later, the massacre is totally terrifying. I like this movie. I'm gonna give 4 stars. You should watch this film.

Sinking of Japan

I've watched this movie at MBO. Unfortunately, since we are very late, we have to sit on the second row that closest to the screen. What's bothering me sitting there is that since its a Japanese film with Japanese language, I need to read the subtitle. So, my eyeballs need to run from one end of the screen to the other end just to read the whole sentence.

The synopsis - courtesy of Imdb.com
In the aftermath of a major earthquake under Suraga Bay, Misaki (a young girl) and Toshiro (a pilot of a deep sea submarine) are rescued from a ruined city street just as leaking gasoline ignites. Reiko Abe arrives just in time, lowered from a helicopter. Scientists predict that Japan will sink within 40 years, due to subduction of a tectonic plate to the west. However, Dr. Tadokoro, who leads an oceanic scientific team that includes Toshiro, calculates that this will happen far sooner, in only 338.54 days. He presents his findings to Prime Minister Yamamoto who decides to create a new department for impending disaster relief assigning Saoro Takamori to cover the new duties, since of all his ministers she will take it seriously but also bring "heart" to the process. As further earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions devastate Japan, the government pleads with other countries to take refugees. Yamamoto flies to China to negotiate relocations there, but his plane is destroyed by a volcanic eruption. Saoro fills the resulting vacuum in leadership and decides that Dr. Tadokoro's plan to blow holes in the disintegrating tectonic tectonic plate is the best remaining hope to not only save the people, but what remains of the country itself. Ironically it was her career that hastened their divorce 20 years earlier. Misaki becomes orphaned following her mother's death from earthquake injuries, and bonds with Reiko who was similarly rescued from, but orphaned by the Kobe quake. Toshiro is offered a job in England and wants Reiko and Misaki to come with him, but Reiko feels bound to help others and refuses to leave. Fellow submarine pilot Shinji Yuki also turns down Toshiro's offer to work with him in England. Drillships place massive explosives deep in the crust, but the detonator is not placed properly and Yuki dies attempting to place it by submarine.

Storyline
Its hard to understand the whole story by reading the synopsis above. You must wathc this movie to understand it. Since the story is full of natural disaster, I think its quite OK to have some romantic love story between the main character.

Effects
The Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI) in this movie are superb. I guess this is the photorealistic quality that they should produce. The Japanese are good in 3D too.. we can tell by playing the games and also the previous Final Fantasy movie. By the way, it hard for me to make a comparison with the original version of this movie. Yea, this is just a remake. Of course due to the technology 30 years ago, they might don't have this quality.

Characters
Yea. watching at the character named Reiko, she reminds me of one of her J-Drama. I've watched Good Luck and she's the aeronautic engineer. It seems that she loves to play such role, not too feminine but she's got style.

I enjoy watching this movie and I'm giving 4 stars out of 5.

Night At The Museum

History comes to life at museum. That's a cool quote for this movie. Yeah, it does reflect the function of the museum itself.

Here's the synopsis of the movie.
NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM is an action-adventure-comedy that comes to life by night. The hallowed halls of the Natural History Museum are lined with the most amazing things – wild-eyed prehistoric creatures, fierce ancient warriors, long lost tribes, African animals and history’s legendary heroes – all frozen forever in time. Or . . . are they? In the action-adventure-comedy, NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM, the brand new night guard at the Natural History Museum is about to discover that when the visitors go home at the end of the day, the real adventure begins – as the museum’s stuffed, waxed and well-preserved residents come out to play.

The films stars Stiller, Carla Gugino, Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, Bill Cobbs, Ricky Gervais, Kim Raver, and Robin Williams.

I went to MBO Galaxy Ampang to watch this movie by myself. I enjoy watching this movie.

Opening montage
Yeah.. I like it. It put 3D text into the movie environment and fade 'em out. A bit masking here and there. The reflections and the shadows are fine too!

Storyline
It has very simple and straight storyline. But what I like about the twist and the conflict of this movie is how Ben trying to manage and get along with all the 'creatures' in the museum. Besides that, the bad guys which are the old security guards has interesting role too. I wonder what's happen in the end? Why are they mopping the floor? Aren't they supposed to get busted?

Effects
From the beginning of the story, I can tell that its a fake T-Rex in the museum's lobby. I know most of them are CGI and I like it. They look very realistic.

Overall, I must say that you should watch this movie if you want some comedy and a bit action. I'm giving 3 stars.

Cicak-Man

I've watched this movie at MBO Galaxy Ampang. Is this movie going to be box office of the year?

Its my first time watching midnight show, the show begins at 12.15am and I went with my sisters and my father. Yeah, both Cinta and Cicak-Man are movies for families.

Most of us are attracted to watch this movie because of the promotional trailer. Its kinda cool aight? For the first time ever, Malaysian made movies that integrate CGI as the environment, not just effect. I'm totally impressed with the rendering quality where it does look realistic. But too much white during the day and its too dark at night?

Next, I like the comic book montage. Its simple yet it seems like 'Spiderman' or any Marvel Comic books isn't it? I'm still learning to create montage like that.

Hook? The opening part after the montage. Most of the hook scene was featured in their trailer too. FYI, hook are also known as attention grabber. That's why we watch this movie rite?

I hated to watch it when I'm tired. Its a long day for me, going to Low Yat to buy stuff, and I don't have enough rest. Its hard for me to concentrate watching this movies. But still, I want to write a review here :P

What's wrong with this movie? Firstly, it has typical Malay movies' plot. Not interesting enough because it doesnt tell how the superhero evolve and how they do the cloning. Yeah, I know its a comedy superhero but it still should have a better story telling. Something that can make me think about it and say it as rational and logic. 'The Departed' has the best plot for this year.

When I'm talking about weak plot, I remembered one big movie with such a weak plot. Guess what? Its 'The Day After Tomorrow'. Seriously, I'm amazed by the CGI but the plot? Oh my..

One more, serious thing about choreography during the fighting, I don't like it. Its not dramatic enough. 'The Matrix' and 'Star Wars ep.3' are the best example for that

Finally, I'm impressed with this movie because of the CGI. But I believe if there's a sequel, it should be better. This one is an experimental for Yusry I guess. If KRU want to deal with more CG after this, they should invest for their own CG Studio like Pixar's.

Cinta The Movie

I don't like to watch Malay film at cinemas but this time, since my friends already bought the ticket while I'm still sleeping, I have to go and watch it. I've read others' review about this movie and I set in my mind, its gonna be worth it. I would like to encourage those who are in love with someone or having trouble with your relationship.. whatever you are in, this is one of the must-see Malay movies this holiday. I guess 'Cicak Man' is my next movie on the list!

  • It has good plot where somehow it connects all the characters simultaneously. I'm awed with the storyline too.
  • I'm glad that this time, the corporate style goes around the architecture and design firm, which is familiar to me. I hate where most Malay corporate world talks about business and backstabbing each other.
  • I guess since it has lots of interesting characters, this movie is kinda honest in reflecting Malay lifestyle and culture.
  • The 'Rubiah Laksa Shop' is kinda familiar to me. Yeah, it took place in AU2 near my favourite barber shop. But why I didn't notice when the shooting took place?
  • She said that she sounds stupid in Malay but in this movie, she did good speaking Malays.. Guess who she is?
  • In some scene in the movies, it really touches my heart. My friend did cry eventhough the movies over. Hehe. Seriously, its touching unless you are not emotional enough to understand these
  • Thanks to Farah Hana and Johnna Analia for inviting me watching this movie. I wonder when's the next time we're gonna spend time like this together again.

Casino Royale

James Bond 007: Casino Royale

Casino Royale is another Bond movies with brand new blonde Bond. I've been watching the previous Brosnan Bond movies, so I'm eager to watch this one which releases 16th November. Where on earth it released on 17th? and what am I thinking of this movie?
Here's the synopsis of the movie, taken from Tribute.ca website.

Daniel Craig stars as "007" James Bond, the smoothest, sexiest, most lethal agent on Her Majesty's Secret Service in Casino Royale. Based on the first Bond book written by Ian Fleming, the story, which has never been told on film until now, recounts the making of the world's greatest secret agent.

James Bond's first "007" mission leads him to Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen), banker to the world's terrorists. In order to stop him, and bring down the terrorist network, Bond must beat Le Chiffre in a high-stakes poker game at Casino Royale. Bond is initially annoyed when a beautiful British Treasury official, Vesper Lynd (Eva Green), is assigned to deliver his stake for the game and watch over the government's money. But, as Bond and Vesper survive a series of lethal attacks by Le Chiffre and his henchmen, a mutual attraction develops leading them both into further danger and events that will shape Bond's life forever.

  • Make sure you mentally prepared for 144minutes of movie, equals to 2hrs 24minutes. I thought it was less than 2 hours.
  • There are lots of actions and drama in this movies. Even in the early part of this movie, the 'hook' or 'attention grabber' chasing scene is outstanding!
  • In the opening montage, I'm really impressed with the combination of 2D in the 3D world. Okay, its just like the vector style with 3D environment. Its simple but unique.
  • Its just the same as in the previous Bond movies where there will be one girl that will cheat on him but this time, Eva Green is totally fabulous, beautiful and sexy. She do cheated on him but deep inside she's totally in love with him. So, if you watch it, you can understand why and how.
  • I'm kinda boring on the last 30 minutes part where there's no action anymore. Because they seems to live a happy life together. And suddenly, there goes the action in Venice, Italy. I keep wondering what's happen next, I mean when its gonna end?
  • Poker games. From the movie title, I know its gonna be something about the gambling and casino. I thought its gonna be such a boring scene but, with good plot and cinematography, I like that part too, eventhough its was a bit slow.
  • Finally about the Bond itself. Yeah. Daniel Craig is indeed has a good quality of the next 007. In this movie, its more honest where we can see the other side of the hero where he also was beaten, fall in love, poisoned and that's the honest part I think.

Lastly, I'd give this movie 5 star rating and its a must watched movie for this year.

P/S- I still prefering watching movies in cinema because I don't have the big screen and Dolby or THX sound system in my house yet! Besides, the excitement and feeling is the big thing here.

Departed & Covenant

Its my first movie marathon at MBO Cinema in Galaxy Ampang. I've watched The Departed and The Covenant movie continuously. So, here's what I'm gonna say about them.

The Departed movie synopsis
'The Departed' is set in South Boston, where the state police force is waging war on organized crime. Young undercover cop Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio) is assigned to infiltrate the mob syndicate run by gangland chief Costello (Jack Nicholson). While Billy is quickly gaining Costello's confidence, Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon), a hardened young criminal who has infiltrated the police department as an informer for the syndicate, is rising to a position of power in the Special Investigation Unit. Each man becomes deeply consumed by his double life, gathering information about the plans and counter-plans of the operations he has penetrated. But when it becomes clear to both the gangsters and the police that there's a mole in their midst, Billy and Colin are suddenly in danger of being caught and exposed to the enemy -- and each must race to uncover the identity of the other man in time to save himself.

It took 2hours and 20 minutes. Its quite long, so make sure you can stand the cold! Its my first time to be the first person in the theater and there are less than 10 people watching with me that time?!

The Departed is a unique story eventhough in the beginning, I'm quite confused with the character. One more, the casting is good because both of them are my favourite actor, Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio. However in this movie, they look alike from hairstyle and shape of their face, skin colour too. In short, if you want to watch police movie with some twist of the storyline, this is a great movie. I just happen to watch this movie than 'The Prestige' because I've read about the review in Imdb.com.

The Covenant movie synopsis
In 1692, in the Ipswich Colony of Massachusetts, five families with untold power formed a covenant of silence. One family, lusting for more, was banished; their bloodline disappearing without a trace--until now. This thriller tells the story of the Sons of Ipswich, four young students at the elite Spencer Academy who are bound by their sacred ancestry. As descendants of the original families who settled in Ipswich Colony in the 1600's, the boys have all been born with special powers. When the body of a dead student is discovered after a party, secrets begin to unravel which threaten to break the covenant of silence that has
protected their families for hundreds of years.

I missed the first 20 minutes because I just finished the former movie. I hate when somebody keeps shaking my seat from behind. By the way, just be patient and watch the 1 hours 37 minutes movie till the end. So here's my review.

From the trailer, I know this is another action movies with some of the magic power from the main characters. But, since I'm expecting lots of action, this movie doesn't help. The final battle scene is not good enough. I know they hanged the character with wire to make them fly and bounce, but the movement is very wired and weird. I prefer watching 'The Matrix Revolution' final battle scene than this.

Harry Potter

Clemence Poesy as Fleur Delacour

I went for a movie at Times Square with Farhat & Nidzam and we watched Harry Potter. Eventually, I didn't watch the second and third installment of this movie. Anyway, this fourth one is better than the first. Heh, I dunno how to compare with the other ones.. In this movie I can understand how his life was.. it also a good mixing of action, adventure, romance, suspen and magic elements. I would give this movie another 4 stars. This time, I enjoy watching the beauty of Clemence Poesy as she starring as Fleur Delacour (Picture above). Eventhough she just playing minor character but I'd prefer Clemence than Emma.
